Cultural Tour and Trekking in Toraja (5 Days / 4 Nights)

Day 01: Makassar Airport – Toraja

Meet at Sultan Hasanuddin airport in Makassar, we directly leave for Toraja through two ethnic groups in South Sulawesi: Makassar and Bugis. En route, you will see some traditional houses by Bugis people, coastal regions and daily working such as: farming and fishery. Lunch will be served at local restaurant. Coffee or Tea break at Bambapuang while enjoying the beautiful scenery of “erotic mountain”, called Gunung Nona. Lately afternoon arrive in Toraja, check in hotel.

Day 02: Cultural Tour

After breakfast at hotel, it’s time to explore Toraja. Firstly, we will visit Lemo the stone grave with effigies of dead persons (Tau-Tau) on the balcony, Kambira a special burial site for babies who died before teething. After lunch at local restaurant, we will visit Suaya the royal family grave,Tampang Allo another royal family grave. After that, drive to Ke’te’ Kesu’ a traditional village where there are a few traditional houses, rice barns and three kinds of coffins by animistic belief, Londa a natural burial cave with many skulls, bones, “a mummy”, “Romeo and Juliet by Torajan version” inside. Lately afternoon back to hotel.

Day 03: Toraja Trekking

After breakfast, the driver drops us off in Ke'Pe' countryside and then we start to trek through other countrysides with its fascinating mountainous area, rice fields, activities by local people, valley, coffee and cacao plantations. Lunchbox en route. Lately afternoon arrive in Limbong countryside and stay one night in the traditional house.

Day 04: Toraja Trekking

After breakfast at Limbong, we continue our trekking to other countrysides. At noon, we will be picked up by the car in Salu and then back to hotel. 

Day 05: Toraja-Makassar Airport

After breakfast at hotel, transfer to Makassar airport for your next destination. Lunch will be served at local restaurant on the way.
